ABOUT THE MASQUERADE OF THE RED DEATH

Short Description:
Spend your Halloween with Edgar Allan Poe at the darkest Halloween event in Detroit: The Masquerade Of The Red Death. It's not just a Halloween party. Not just a Masquerade Ball. Not just a stage play. And not just a concert. At The Masque, you become part of Poe's story. Prince Prospero invites you to a grande masquerade ball at his castle on the night of the Red Death. Outside the walls of the castle lies the Red Death. Inside, with us, you are kept safe by Prince Prospero. Live actors play out Poe's story throughout the night, both on stage and off, throughout the castle. In between witnessing the story unfold, you can watch on and off stage performances of every type, from music and dance to magic, hypnosis, fire, side shows, tarot and mind reading, and more.

More Detail:
Never before have you witnessed a Halloween event or production quite like this. Edgar Allan Poe's "The Masque Of The Red Death" is recreated in a live setting, with you, Prince Prospero's guests, at the center of it all.

You are cordially invited to a dark masquerade in Prince Prospero's castle on the Night Of the Red Death. Imagine traveling through time to the 13th century and attending a grande masquerade ball in the Prince's castle. The Masquerade Of The Red Death is a medeival style masquerade ball, forged in the image of Edgar Allan Poe's macabre masterpiece short story, The Mask Of The Red Death. In the imagineering of this event, we draw influence both from Poe's original story, and from the 1964 Roger Corman film starring Vincent Price.

Throughout the multiple rooms of the castle, you will witness performances of every type imaginable, including music, dance, magic, tarot & palm reading, mentalism, psychics, fire performers, aerialists, side shows, roving performers, burlesque and more, including a 30 piece chamber orchestra. Scenes from Poe's masterpiece "The Masque Of The Red Death" will be performed live throughout the evening. Each room of the castle will reflect its own color, and its own form of entertainment.

The Rules
There are only two rules at The Masque:
1. Masquerade wear is required.
2. Do not wear red.

The Red Death will lay waste to the countryside. But, in here, with us... you will be safe.
